The Bounou Rock is both a geological and historical curiosity. It is the remains of the ancient Rochelaure castle, built on a granite tor, that is, on a rocky relief that was formed by the erosion of the surrounding soil.

All that remains of this medieval castle is this large octagonal keep. In 1575, the looting and destruction of part of the building took place. It represents fairly well the military architecture of the 14th century.

Many pass through Saugues for the beast of Gévaudan but also for the Vernet pastry and its specialties (carré du Gévaudan, Sauguin,...)

Take a moment to ear the beast! The water is gently flowing through the maw of this fountain, and suddenly you will ear the growl of the beast! A great moment for children. However the water is very good!
