The Mont Mouchet Museum and Memorial pay tribute to Lucien and Pierrot, who, in 1944, joined one of France's five maquis. They committed to preventing the German army stationed to the south from advancing toward Normandy. Through a tour of authentic objects, documents, photos, and videos, you will discover the historical events that brought Mont Mouchet to life.

Charming town

Ruynes-en-Margeride is recognizable from afar thanks to its 12th century tower. The latter houses the Margeride eco-museum as well as the garden of Saint-Martin. The beautiful fountain located on Place Gambetta is also to be discovered.

This is a beautiful climb on the border between Haute-Loire and Lozère. The road climbs to an altitude of 1,400 meters with regular gradients of around 6-7% on each side.

An old stone shelter standing alongside a small chapel, ideal for getting out of the elements or a spot to grab a snack, although it isn't set up for sleeping in. There is a fountain with drinkable water and toilets just a few metres away.

Saint-Roch is the most represented saint on the paths of Saint-Jacques. He is the patron saint of pilgrims. His story is tragic. Suffering from the Black Death, he warns passers-by that he is contagious by pointing with his finger to a bubo on his left thigh. He is always represented accompanied by his little dog who is in charge of bringing him food. The statues of Saint-Roch are numerous. This one is beautifully made.

All that remains of this medieval castle is this large octagonal keep. In 1575, the looting and destruction of part of the building took place. It represents fairly well the military architecture of the 14th century.
