The lakeside road connects Thun and Interlaken along the northern shore. It's recommended to cycle towards Interlaken, as this offers the best views of the beautiful lake. Since you'll pass through several short tunnels, your bicycle should be equipped with front and rear lights. Please note that due to the limited space on the hillside, there is no dedicated cycle lane. However, as it's not a main thoroughfare, cycling is still quite pleasant.

Great day on the Lakes Route with the day's end lake, Lake Thun

It is always more pleasant to drive around Lake Thun on the left-hand side when looking from Thun.

An architectural highlight! This bridge over the Simme River impresses with its enormous span and elegant wooden structure. It symbolizes innovation in harmony with nature. A must-see!

Beautiful view, large bike path, old bridge

The Glütschbach or valley was the riverbed of the Kander until 1714. This also explains the deep incision for this small stream.

The bridge itself is great. Unfortunately, there are no cycle paths before or after it and so this bridge is definitely not of "national importance".
