Contrasting with the surrounding limestone plains, the Vaudobin site offers a wild and rugged landscape with its deep gorge cut into a high plateau of Armorican sandstone. The Stele of the Poles in Coudehard is a memorial which commemorates the end of the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, which took place in August 1944 during the Second World War. A group of Polish soldiers from the 1st Armored Division resisted attacks by German troops trying to escape encirclement by Allied forces. The Polish soldiers suffered heavy losses, but held their position until relieved by Canadian troops.

For a unique and historic destination, you can stop at this M16 Half-Track in Tournai-Sur-Dive. This is a rare example of an American WWII anti-aircraft vehicle that was abandoned by Allied forces after the liberation of France. It was to be equipped with four 0.5-inch machine guns mounted on a quadruple mount at the rear. You can imagine the noise he made shooting at enemy planes.
