The small, very beautiful refuge is at the same time a sanctuary and dedicated to St. Kilian, patron saint of winemakers. Solidly built, the house offers protection against storm, rain and too strong sun, if necessary, you can also take a break at the rest area in front of the hut. In the background the Fahlsbach splashing, the view of the vineyards and the opposite Valwig is enchanting. The refuge is located on a hiking trail that leads from Ebernach Monastery to Ernst.

The wine village Ernst is with its many small winegrowers and ostrich-economies a very worth seeing village. Just in the evening you can see many people sitting in the small restaurants and establishments to enjoy the wine that is grown there. A wine tasting is also possible at many farms. We made ours on this holiday at the winery Schleyer Göbel. The winery offers a guided tour of the historic wine cellar every day, and on Wednesdays this tour also takes you through the vineyards, where you will learn about winegrowing.
