The Herford small railway once steamed where the Maiwiese is today. The former railway line is now a beautiful park along the Bolldammbach. Seating and a playground are also ideal for a hiking break.

The collegiate church in Enger dates from the 14th century. However, the location itself is much older and goes back to the time of Widukind, around the year 800. So it couldn't be more apt that even Widukind is said to have founded the church himself and even more: to be buried here as well. It will probably never be proven definitively, but at least some documents, finds and the spatial reference to Mathilde, who was born a few years later, indicate that the imposing sarcophagus in the chancel actually contains the bones of Duke Widukind of Saxony! If you have the opportunity, you should definitely take a look inside. Widukind's grave is BEHIND the altar. You can get a perfect view of it over steps. The church is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. I don't know the other opening times.
