The deepest water point serves as a reference value, and the water depth can be read to within 1 cm. And indeed: even though we didn't see it, the divisions must be elongated.

A very beautiful swimming (reservoir) lake in the heart of the Eifel region. The lake itself isn't very large and can be circumnavigated quickly. The sunbathing lawn quickly fills up on summer days. There's a great lakeside bar, pedal boat rentals, and a designated area for dogs. From the lake, there are numerous options for all kinds of tours.

The narrow valley in which Blankenheim is located hardly offered enough space for a larger church to be built. Until after 1500, residents attended the church in Blankenheimerdorf, which was located outside of the town. In 1391, a chapel dedicated to St. Mary was first mentioned as a branch church of Blankenheimerort. In 1495, Count Johann I of Manderscheid-Blankenheim-Gerolstein (1446–1524, ruled from 1488), despite the limited space, decided to build a larger church in place of the chapel in the town below his castle, which was also to serve as the court church of the count's family. After the outdoor pool closed, the Weiherpark in the North Rhine-Westphalian municipality was left to its own devices – a barely used and inaccessible brownfield site with dilapidated structures emerged near the town center. After the swimming pool closed in 2015, large parts of it remained unused; only the Swan Pond in the center of the park remained accessible. The ideas and wishes of the residents were incorporated into the redevelopment plans. Existing and unused facilities will be demolished and landscaped; The subsequently remodeled terrain will connect to the neighboring valleys, bringing nature directly into the town. The renaturalized Weiherpark will be accessible and accessible for everyone. Thanks to the exposure of the Giesenbach stream, its confluence with the Ahr will become an integral part of the park, creating a connection to the Ahr source in the nearby historic town center.
