In 1891, the first opera house was demolished because it had become worn out and too small. An architectural competition was held for a new building in 1887-1888, which was won by the Stockholm architect Valfrid Karlson (1855-1935). It is worth visiting this bridge. You have a beautiful view of the old town island of Gamla Stan and the city palace. There is a large golden crown in the middle of the bridge. This is of course a popular photo subject. Unfortunately, you have to wait forever to be able to photograph the crown alone, as there is always a large crowd.
