Ånhammar and its surroundings are very beautiful. Ånhammar dates back to the Iron Age, there are several burial grounds nearby, including two on Näset, the peninsula south of Ånhammar. In written documents, Ånhammar is mentioned for the first time in 1366 when a johanne in vnambre is mentioned. Ånhammar received seat privileges in the 1630s, through the then owner Henrik Stöör. The main building is a one-story wooden house, built in 1638 in Carolingian style. To its current appearance with its hipped roof, most of the exterior dates from the beginning of the 18th century. The original appearance of the building was red, lying timber. In 1864, panels were put up on the front of the main building and in 1912 also on the wings. New economic buildings were erected at the beginning of the 19th century northeast of the manor. At the entrance to the manor, you can see the magazine from 1837. There, the estate has a farm museum built by Anders von Stockenström together with his wife Elisabeth since the 1950s. Here there are historical collections with around 2,000 items, including driving equipment, agricultural implements, tools, machines and much more. To the west of the barn buildings stands a wooden fatabur from the 17th century and a gate, moved there from Glömnäs. The Sörmlandsleden passes past Ånhammar (between stage goals 18 and 19). In 1973, the first stage of the Sörmlandsleden was inaugurated here at Ånhammar. In the slope down towards lake Dunkern there is also a rune stone, with the sign Sö 13.

Herröknanäs consists of a peninsula that flows into Lake Misteln. Do visit if you are interested in flowers, enjoy bird watching or just want to wander around the beautiful and open grasslands. It lives as a larva for most of its life inside the hollow oaks. After three or four years, the caterpillar transforms into a beetle, and then it is in a hurry to find a partner to mate with. As a fully grown beetle, it lives only a few weeks in the summer. Getting a glimpse of a leather beetle is difficult. But if you smell dried plums or leather in a hollow old oak tree, you can be pretty sure a leather beetle lives there.

The Kammarstenen on the farm Ånhammars mark, in Gryts parish, is a popular destination for families with children. Kammarsten is a huge moving block. As an extra bonus, when you're still at the Kammarstenen (and the children want to keep playing), you can go down to the Järnaån, which flows south of the moving block. On the road bridge over the river, on sunny days you can see a multitude of wonderfully blue-sparkling maidenhairs. There are Blue damselflies with completely blue wings and Blue-banded damselflies which have transparent wings except for a jewel-sparkling blue wing patch.
