6月 2, 2023, St. Mary's Church Loitz
At that time Joachim Friedrich Barkow had been appointed pastor by the Swedish king from 1802/03 to 1836 and later superintendent and consistorial councilor. He was buried at the north wall. The church tower was rebuilt in 1832. In 1866 two sacristies were added to the gable wall in the east. In 1906 the two southern entrances were bricked up. The interior of the Marienkirche includes a baroque altarpiece made in 1720 in the workshop of Elias Kessler, a pulpit made by Johann Gottfried Quistorp, a baptismal font made of granite with four plastic heads on the bowl, thirteen panels with portraits from the princes' pews , and a library donated by the Duchess in 1621. The organ was made in 1941 by the Lübeck company Kemper. The bells of the church consist of two bronze bells and three small cymbals made in 1996.

6月 2, 2023, St. Mary's Church Loitz
Loitz, Saint Mary's Church The oldest references to the town parish church date from 1299. The church is a three-nave, five-bay hall church with a straight end in the east and a steeple in the west. Two bays of the church essentially date from the 13th century. The entrance hall and the two aisles followed in the late Middle Ages. However, significant additions and changes were made in the 17th century and additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The church was built of field stone and brick, later the masonry was plastered. The conversions from 1600 were financed by the Dowager Duchess Sophia Hedwig. The original enclosing walls of the tower hall to the north and south were demolished and three bays were added to the east; at the same time the chorus was broken off. From 1809 to 1811 the church was again extensively renovated under the direction of Johann Gottfried Quistorp.

5月 11, 2023, St. Bartholomaei Church Demmin
With its tower, which can be seen from afar, the brick Gothic church, which is one of the largest city churches in Western Pomerania, is Demmin's landmark. After almost complete destruction in the 17th century, the church dedicated to Bartholomäus, the disciple of Jesus, was rebuilt in the following centuries and received its current neo-Gothic appearance in the 19th century (Wikipedia).

7月 26, 2022, Kahlden Bridge in Demmin
The city view of Demmin on Lubin's map from the beginning of the 17th century already shows a beam bridge in front of the Kahldentor over the Peene, which was erroneously labeled as Tollense on the map. This bridge, which is important for the city's trade relations, probably existed much earlier. This bridge is missing from a fortification plan from 1720, when Demmin was a fortified town in Swedish Pomerania, but is included in later plans and illustrations from the 18th century. Until the 1920s, the Kahlden Bridge was a wooden double bascule bridge, similar to the Wiecker Bridge near Greifswald. Since this could not cope with the increasing traffic, it was replaced in 1925 by a bascule bridge made of steel and concrete. The bridge was destroyed at the end of World War II and only rebuilt in 1950.

7月 26, 2022, St. Bartholomaei Church Demmin
St. Bartholomaei Church Demmin Three-aisled, cross-rib vaulted Gothic brick church, oldest parts (tower basement, western bay) from the 13th century. Dedicated to the disciple of Jesus Bartholomew, also called Nathanael in the New Testament. Rich medieval furnishings (winged altar, pulpit, side altars, confessionals, organ, bells, pews). In the 15th century (1422) a chapel was added to the south side of the church, Kirchenköst, later called the baptistery. Rebuilt into a winter church after World War II. The glass windows in the baptistery were designed around 1950 by the Rostock artist Lothar Mannewitz. Addition of a sacristy on the north side of the church. In October 1676 the church was completely destroyed during the siege of Demmin by Prussian troops in the Prussian-Swedish War. Loss of all furnishings, only the outer walls and pillars survived. Due to a lack of funds, the entire city has been destroyed except for a few houses, only slow and poor reconstruction. Through foundations and donations, the interior furnishings can gradually be re-acquired (altar, pulpit, chandeliers, organ, bells, paintings, etc.). After Demmin became Prussian in 1720, the cross vaults were rebuilt in 1734 with funds from the Prussian king. The church tower receives a baroque hood.
