At 1,379 meters, the Plöckenstein is the highest point in the Mühlviertel region. From the viewpoint, the view extends far across the Czech Republic, Austria, and Bavaria. Here stands the oldest stone observation tower in Bohemia; it was built in the years 1822-25 by Josef Johann Nepomuk von Schwarzenberg and has a height of 18 meters and a great view.

The Hufberg (1378 m) on the Austrian side is not much lower than the more famous Plöckenstein (Plechý - 1379 m). However, it is not specifically marked as a mountain. As a result, most hikers do not even notice this rock formation on the side of the trail.

The Libin (Liebing) lookout tower offers a beautiful view from the highest point of the Bohemian Forest foothills. From the top of the tower you can see Prachatice, Helfenburg, Pisek Mehelnik, the Temelin nuclear power plant, Hluboka (Frauenberg) Boubin, Javornik and the Almberg near Mitterfirmiansreut. The tower was built in 1883 by the Austrian Tourist Club in honor of the son of Emperor Franz Josef I. At that time it was called "Rudolfsturm".
