Ronov is a castle ruin northeast of Blíževedel in the Česká Lípa district of the Liberec Region. It is located on the top of Ronov Hill, which is part of the Ralská pahorkatina. The remains of the castle are protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The oldest direct reports about the castle date back to the fifteenth century. In 1438 it was owned by Vilém of Ilburk, who significantly rebuilt the castle. After 1538, the Stvolínec fortress became the main seat of the nobility, and Ronov gradually turned into a ruin.

As we now ascend the final stretch to the summit of the Lausche mountain, we'll climb 120 meters in altitude over the next 500 meters. This mountain is the highest in the Lusatian Mountains. The fog is increasingly thickening into a cloud, and our view downwards is becoming increasingly obscured. Looking upwards, we can only vaguely make out the outline of the observation tower. We reach the very top at an altitude of 793 meters. With visibility now limited to just a few meters, we enter the observation tower. We experience the view, completely enveloped by a cloud. This moment is fascinating and exciting; it will remain in our memories. Through a small gap above us, we catch a glimpse of blue sky. Having come from the Czech side, we will descend the mountain again on the German side. Ruins remain as reminders of the mountain hut that once stood here, which burned down in 1946. Unfortunately, the viewing point on the Johannesstein can now only be used by hotel guests.

Even if the Ronberg is still covered in morning mist and cannot be seen at all during the early ascent, the view from the Ronburg on the summit of the Kegelberg is all the more beautiful over the mist and the sun rising above it 🌞 🙂; moments that are magical and make time stand still. Incidentally, the historic hiking trails Kegelweg and Westlicher Rautenweg cross at the Ronberg.

The summit is easily accessible by lift and from which you can start beautiful hikes.
