Steep but short stretch. Nice for photography

Enjoy some peace and serenity as you jog along the shores of the beautiful and calm Altnaheglish Reservoir, situated in the Sperring Area of Natural Beauty. The reservoir is located in the Banagher Forest, which is home to some of the oldest ancient oak woodlands in Ireland. It's a true place of beauty!

On this stretch of the Solar Walk in Davagh Forest near the OM Observatory a pretty stone bridge spans over the Davagh water creating a picturesque scene. It's also fascinating to note that this area is a Dark Sky Park, meaning it boasts exceptional dark night skies.

It’s disappointing that the dirt trails through the forest are for mountain bikers only. As a walker, you have to stick to the tarmac roads - also used by the mountain bikes. It felt like there is an assumption that walking is more about an afternoon stroll with the kids and the dog. The forest is for the mountain bikers.

Formed from a glacial overflow, Barnes Gap is truly breathtaking. On your way up, don't forget to take in the spectacular views. The gap cuts through the east-west crest line of the southern Sperrin Mountains ridge, between the hills of Mullaghbane and Mullaghbolig.

Part of the Sawel Cycle Route, Corramore Road boasts fine views over the Glenelly Valley. A patchwork of fields and rolling hills stretch out beneath you.

With Barnes Top and Knockanbane Mountain to the east and Sawel Mountain to the south east, Sperrins Road carves through the landscape with cracking views all around. There is some descent climbing to get here but it's worth it.
