Named after Captain John Shaw who built a wooden bridge at the site in 1655. The bridge was rebuilt from stone in 1698, but was swept away during flooding. What remains today was rebuilt in 1709. The Bridge provides another major access point for the towpath, offering parking facilities and canoe access to the river.

Victoria Park is open 24 hours, seven days a week. The park has a lake which is home to water birds such as swans, geese, ducks, herons and migrant waders. There are two walking trails around the lake. The playing fields have soccer pitches, a bowling green and a cycling and BMX track. The Park opened in 1906. It was landscaped by Charles McKimm, who also built the Tropical Ravine in the Botanic Gardens.

Erected in 1865 in Gothic style to commemorate Queen Victoria's consort, Prince Albert, the Albert Memorial Clock was built on reclaimed land from the River Lagan on wooden piles, causing the characteristic list. At 113ft, it was tall enough to offer an excellent vantage point for at least one enterprising sightseer to get a birds-eye view of Titanic's launch. The Albert Clock features a statue of Prince Albert as well as ornately carved crowned lions and floral decorations and a two-tonne bell inside.

This 10m (32ft) salmon was commissioned in 1999 to celebrate the regeneration of the River Lagan and the historic importance of the site.

Built in 1906 by Alfred Brumwell Thomas, the town hall is right in the heart of Belfast. I can only recommend a tour of this historic building. When you go up the grand staircase to the banquet hall and walk through the spacious marble corridors, you go on a journey of discovery through the history of the city.
