ニューリー運河旧閘門複合施設、スカーヴァのすぐ南にあります。石造りの閘門壁、狭い運河の断面、そして静かで緑豊かな環境が、ここを水路沿いの特徴的な場所としています。水はしばしば静止し、岸辺の木々を映し出し、古い閘門構造はまだはっきりと認識できます。さらにリラックスした運河経路における、雰囲気のある歴史的な瞬間です。

Bann川のすぐそば、Sustrans Route 9 / Newry Canal Towpathの隣にある小さなコーヒーショップ。カフェは文字通り道のすぐそばにあり、運河沿いの道を走るサイクリストにとって合理的な休憩場所となっています。古いレンガ造りの建物はリラックスした雰囲気で、内外ともにサイクリストとハイカーが出会う場所です。Craigavon Lakes方面の運河の風景に再び入る前に、コーヒー、軽いスナック、短い休憩に最適です。休憩は楽しかったですが、写真を撮り忘れました。

リスナミントリー・ラス（ポートダウン近くのバリーガーガン・ロード沿い）のエントランスは、アーマー県この地域で数少ない公式に保護されている考古学遺跡への入り口です。ラスは初期キリスト教時代の要塞化された農場（西暦500〜1000年頃）で、かつては略奪者から家族や家畜を保護していました。道路からは見えません。

The small town of Scarva, nestled between green meadows and the quiet canal, offers a welcome break on my bike tour through Northern Ireland. Here you cycle on well-maintained paths past historic bridges and small villages that give you the feeling that time has stood still. The British flags fluttering along the side of the road remind you that you are in a culturally special area - a detail that reflects the identity of the region. The route is easy to cycle, the surrounding landscape is gently rolling, which makes for pleasant cycling. The view of wide fields and rolling hills invites you to slow down now and then and take in the peace and quiet. A special feature of Scarva is the annual Orange Order March, which transforms the village into a kind of open-air stage once a year and keeps the traditions of this region alive.
