Beautiful beer garden

Very nice, warm and less altitude than expected, goes well from both sides

Beautiful cycling and hiking trail over the Heuberg with a beautiful view of the Murnauer Moos and down to Eschenlohe.

Nice route with great views between Eschenlohe and Garmisch

The Loisach in the Berwang area is more of a stream than a river. The picturesque mountain slopes make the paths around the Loisach a highlight.

"Comfortable rooms await you at the Hotel-Gasthof "Zur Brücke" in Eschenlohe, modernly furnished in Bavarian style. Almost all rooms have a balcony - including the wonderful view!" That's what it says on the website. We must have got one of the rooms that doesn't match this description: view of the neighbour's roof and the furnishings... see pictures. The last modernisation was probably in the 1970s, judging by the design of the sockets and switches. WiFi worked at reception, but not in the room. The reason given (roughly) was that our cell phones were too old or we were too stupid. Other guests had the same problem. After several complaints, they said: "My Ukrainians are coming soon. They'll show you." Holla...! On our three-week bike tour in the Bavarian Alps and several hiking tours in the area, this was the absolute low point. But they charge 110 euros per night for that. That, in turn, was the highest price for an overnight stay. I strongly recommend avoiding this inn. After these experiences, we decided not to have dinner there. On the other side of the Loisach there is a beautiful beer garden of a Greek restaurant.

A very beautiful route through the forest

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Clemens belongs to the parish of Eschenlohe, the parish community of Murnau and the deanery of Benediktbeuern and thus to the diocese of Augsburg. The late baroque church was built between 1764 and 1782 according to plans by Johann Michael Fischer and Franz Anton Kirchgrabner on the foundations of the previous Gothic building. The commission was given by the priest Ignaz Kaltenhauser and the Ettal abbot Bernhard II von Eschenbach. For reasons of space, it was not oriented eastwards, but is oriented northwards.
