The whipping tower was once part of Weißenhorn's town fortifications. At the same time, it also served as a kind of prison, which is why it was also called the Thieves' Tower. The so-called whipping post was a triangular piece of wood on which prisoners sometimes had to sit for days in full view of the public.

The Punishment Tower marks the northwest corner of the city fortifications. It was built starting in 1488 as part of the city wall construction. The still-visible, elongated, barred window on the upper floor of the tower represents the exit onto the wall's parapet walk and illustrates the height of the former city wall. Weißenhorn is definitely worth a detour.

Weißenhorn is over 850 years old. The medieval town center is a listed building. A stroll through the old streets of the city center is definitely worth it.

It's worth taking a look at the inside of the pilgrimage church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary in Witzighausen. There are impressive frescoes on the ceiling and the three altars are also well worth seeing.
