11月 1, 2024, Belvoir Park Forest
The forest stretches along the River Lagan and has a surprising variety of plants and animals to experience as you drive through. Old oak trees and dense foliage cast shadows along the path and if you look closely you might spot a kingfisher by the water or hear the faint call of long-eared owls in the branches. What makes Belvoir special is its history. In the middle of the forest lies an old Norman motte from the 12th century - a reminder of times gone by that makes the forest seem even more mystical. The gigantic fungi and rare plants such as the scaly root also give this place its own charm. The trails here are pleasant and offer you the right mix of challenge and relaxation. For nature lovers and history buffs, Belvoir Park Forest is a special experience that will make you want to return again and again.

11月 1, 2024, Ormeau Park
Ormeau Park - the perfect place for a relaxing bike ride in the middle of Belfast. As the oldest city park in the city, opened in 1871, it offers a pleasant mix of history, nature and leisure activities. The spaciousness and the dense green of the old trees create an atmosphere that immediately brings a bit of peace to hectic everyday life. Here you will find a surprising variety: from BMX and bicycle paths to basketball and tennis courts to bowling greens and a beautifully designed flower garden. For me as a cyclist, the appeal lies particularly in the gentle curves and the wide paths that lead through the green area. In some corners you can still feel the touch of the Victorian era, especially along the beautiful avenues. The park offers many entrances - be it from the Ormeau Road, the Ormeau Embankment or the Ravenhill Road.

11月 1, 2024, Orangefield Park
The paths meander through lush greenery that makes you feel like you're far away from the city. A well-kept park that offers space for both exercise and relaxed rolling. The tree-lined avenues are particularly beautiful - perfect for cycling in the interplay of light and shadow. The route also runs along the Connswater Community Greenway, a green corridor through Belfast that beautifully connects Orangefield Park with other green areas of the city. The evening atmosphere with the play of light on the manicured lawn and the clouds over Belfast is definitely worth a moment to pause - a calm contrast to the otherwise busy city. Ideal for a relaxed ride in the early morning or to wind down in the evening without being too far away.

Here, in the middle of the city, the characters from The Chronicles of Narnia come to life in the form of impressive bronze sculptures. As a cyclist, you pass right by the square and can pause for a moment to immerse yourself in this fantastic world. The sculptures of Aslan, the mighty lion, and the White Witch's throne in particular attract attention. The details of the figures are impressive and give the characters a special presence. The square is not only a place for literature lovers, but also an interesting work of art in the open air - a change from the usual sights. CS Lewis, the famous writer and son of the city, is omnipresent here and also makes this place a small piece of Belfast history.

11月 1, 2024, Titanic Belfast
Located right in the Titanic Quarter, the building is an eye-catcher from afar - the modern architecture with its sharp edges and shiny facades is reminiscent of the bow of the famous ship and offers an exciting contrast to the historic docks where the Titanic was once built. Here you can immerse yourself in the history of the legendary ocean liner, from its construction by Harland & Wolff to its tragic maiden voyage. However, the exhibition goes far beyond the Titanic and also sheds light on the stories of its sister ships, the Olympic and the Britannic. In the spacious halls, which cover a total of 12,000 square meters, you can expect a thoughtful mix of interactive exhibitions and historical exhibits - perfect for taking a break from cycling and immersing yourself in the maritime past.

11月 1, 2024, Victoria Park Lake
Victoria Park in Belfast is an interesting spot for a short bike ride and a break by the water. It is accessible 24 hours a day and has a quiet lake that is enlivened by swans, ducks and other water birds. The walk around the lake is particularly relaxing, where gently curved paths lead you through the greenery of the park. The complex dates back to 1906 and was designed by landscape architect Charles McKimm, who also designed the impressive tropical hall in the Botanical Garden. You can also explore the small BMX track by bike, which attracts ambitious cyclists - perfect for adding a little variety. On the banks of the lake, the complex offers a beautiful mix of nature and urban flair. Free parking makes access uncomplicated and practical. A walk or a bike ride through this historic park is a refreshing break, especially with the lively birdsong and the proximity to the water. Whether for a short break or a longer stay – Victoria Park offers a pleasant ambience in the middle of the city.

8月 2, 2023, Titanic Belfast
Belfast was one of the largest shipbuilding centers in the early 20th century. 247 ships were built here between 1900 and 1913, more than anywhere else in the world at that time. Probably the most famous: the Titanic. She was commissioned on April 2, 1912. The Titanic Museum is now located on the site of the former dry dock. Since it was raining again today, we immersed ourselves in the world of Belfast around 1900, the shipyard construction and the flair of the luxury liner. In front of the museum is the "Normadic", a feeder ship in Cherbourg. The "Titanic" could not enter the port there because of its draft. The rest of the story is known.

6月 14, 2023, Narnia Sculptures at C.S. Lewis Square
This trail will take you to the places that inspired the young C.S. Lewis, one of our most famous literary sons, best known for his magical world of Narnia. Clive Staples Lewis was born in Belfast on 29 November 1898 and grew up in family homes on Dundela Avenue and Circular Road in the east of the city. The trail starts at 'The Searcher' sculpture outside Holywood Arches Library on the Holywood Road and includes sites such as C.S. Lewis Square (containing 7 Narnia inspired sculptures), St. Mark's Church, where his grandfather was rector and where Lewis himself was baptised, and No. 47 Dundela Avenue where a Blue Plaque marks where the writer was born.

6月 6, 2023, Titanic Belfast
Until around 10 p.m., the Titanic received six warnings about drifting ice and icebergs throughout the day, but these were often not particularly serious or noticed. The radio room was busy all day with congratulatory telegrams and other private radio traffic. Captain Smith retired to his cabin at 9:20 p.m. Despite the frequent warnings and the very low temperature (it was below zero degrees), the Titanic continued to sail almost at top speed in order to be able to catch up with the previous days and possibly even reach New York before the planned arrival time. Even the fact that the men had no binoculars on the lookout did not cause Captain Smith to drive the ship at a reduced speed.

6月 6, 2023, Titanic Belfast
On April 10, 1912, the Titanic left the port of Southampton, England, to acclaim. The maiden voyage to New York was to pass via Cherbourg in France and Queenstown in Ireland. But just four days after the start of the voyage, at around 11:40 p.m. on April 14, the ship collided with the destructive iceberg - and finally sank completely in the freezing cold Atlantic at 2:20 a.m. on April 15. The wreck of the Titanic lies around 600 kilometers southeast of the coast of Newfoundland at a depth of almost 4,000 meters. It was not discovered until 1985.
