Only a few cars are allowed to park at the wine market now, and the pedestrian zone from the town hall to the Schrannenplatz has been repaved. I can't say whether the number of shops opening in the city center has improved. Many shops have opened in northern Memmingen, and new commercial space has been created, which will probably eventually extend as far as Steinheim. I live in Kempten, and they were smarter there, which is why the city center is still bustling even on Saturday afternoons.

The Ulm Gate is one of several preserved city gates of Memmingen's medieval city fortifications.

The entire city center is worth a visit.

The Lautrach Iller power plant was completed in 1948 and currently supplies an average of 26 million kilowatt hours per year. Enough to power more than 15,000 private households. The "head" is 7.9 meters, and the Iller reservoir holds up to 600,000 cubic meters.

A very beautiful old town with numerous places to linger. Unfortunately, however, there is a large number of shops dying out, as in many city centers.
