Although Burnham-On-Sea Pier is Britain’s shortest pier and comprises no more than a shoreward end pavilion on concrete piles, it is still a lovely structure that, unlike a lot of its bigger counterparts, still retains its Edwardian features and elegance.

End of the road. Take care the jetty is only accessible at low tide and there are strong currents. Originally constructed for the transfer of railway passengers and freight to paddle steamers which crossed the Bristol Channel to Wales.

Great environment, good food and broad selection available - highly recommend

Burnham Seafront. The fish and chips smelt delicious. Gets quieter the further south you go.

Great spot by the sea to eat an ice cream, fish and chips or just to get some fresh air

At the mouth of the River Parrett, upon Bridgwater Bay is Burnham on Sea. This pier is all that remains of the Somerset and Dorset railway that connected Cardiff (via steamer) to the Southcoast. The trains used to run from Burnham-on-sea and then to Wells, Glastonbury, Bath (for connections to the Midlands) as well as Wareham and Swanage in Dorset.

A bit of a long way round, but it's much nicer taking the little country lanes through the village on Chilton Trinity to get around the town centre
