The so-called "Swedish Crosses" are memorial crosses commemorating those killed as victims of the often marauding (plundering) troops that roamed the country during those warlike times (the first half of the 17th century). However, in the strictest sense of the word, they are not "atonement crosses," because such crosses were to be erected by the perpetrators themselves as part of their atonement (penance) for their crimes, whereas memorial crosses were erected by people close to the victim (often family members, possibly friends, or neighbors).

The Catholic parish church of St. Engelmar is a rural building that was rebuilt in 1656 using late Gothic parts. An expansion and renovation with a tower took place around 1900. The six impressive panel paintings on the Engelmar legend around 1600 are worth seeing. High altar: late Renaissance around 1640 with two side late Gothic wooden figures around 1500. The church is open during the day.
