As early as the Middle Ages, there was a wine and later beer tavern on the property next to the busy old main road. The innkeeper of Gammelsdorf is first mentioned in writing in the tax book of 1565. The post office in the inn existed from 1899 to 1937.

The golden barley juice was brewed under high pressure. In 1921, the Marist Brothers took over the castle brewery from Baroness Freifrau Philomena von Hornstein as tenants. It was renamed the Furth Monastery Brewery in 1980. "The beer mug in your hand connects town and country!" said Brother Burkhard in 1998. The recipes have remained unchanged since 1857. They use over 30 different herbs, roots and spices. Visitors can discover some examples of the herbs used in the barrier-free display herb garden. The old and secret monastery recipe is closely guarded by the monks of the order.

Great tour, especially with the Cross E Bike over the mountain and forest paths between Furth and Eugenbach. This part is only recommended for stable touring bikes with cross tires.
