The city walls and battlements of Forchtenberg are impressive examples of medieval defensive architecture – and still shape the appearance of the old town today. But beware: some pigeons live in the tower and have left a lot of droppings all over the place. It's not really that nice.

With its distinctive tower, sandstone walls, and view of the Jagst Valley, it is not only a place of worship but also a landmark of the city. Inside, visitors are greeted by a simple, dignified atmosphere with historical elements, including a baptismal font, an altar, and ornate stained-glass windows. The church is named after the Archangel Michael – a symbol of protection and strength.

The Würzburg Gate is one of Forchtenberg's historic city gates and an impressive example of medieval urban architecture. 🏰🚪 It is located at the eastern entrance to the old town and was once part of the city fortifications that protected Forchtenberg from attacks from Würzburg. With its massive masonry, characteristic round arch, and adjacent half-timbered houses, it still exudes strength and history.

It stands directly at the historic city gate, where the city's water supply once began. With its stone basin, ornate fountain stem, and often flower-decorated surroundings, it's a popular meeting place and photo opportunity. You can sit comfortably by the fountain's edge and enjoy service from the adjacent restaurant.

Originally built as part of the baroque gardens of the former administrative building, it now serves as a quiet retreat.
