Brilliant cafe in High Easter - great place for a cafe stop on a ride through Essex. Well worth checking out

The classic High Easter village sign. High Easter is a village and a civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. The village is 7 miles northwest from the city of and county town of Chelmsford. The parish includes the hamlets of Bishop's Green and Stagden Cross.

Writtle has a beautiful traditional village green. Complete with duck pond and Norman church, it's a picture-perfect place for a picnic. The village was once described as "one of the loveliest [...] in England, with a ravishing variety of ancient cottages"

The Queens Head is such a nice pub with a garden to stop for a pint and lunch.

It is private, need permission to fish here!!!

Blackmore village is a place to visit they have a great Tea room Homemade cakes made on the premises just across the road there is a little church rumour have it Henry the eighth went there

Approached from the north via a nice little gradient.

Proper tea (loose) with our big breakfast.

Unfortunately, now closed on Sundays.

Greasy spoon. Does what it says on the tin. No fuss. Great service.

Fantastic cafe stop in the pretty village of Blackmore. They've got a great menu and loads of outside space, a real favourite of local and London cyclists.

Not a hill at all, but a very enjoyable bit of road in the Essex lanes, and a fun bit of the Dunwich Dynamo. It's still light enough to enjoy this section as the sun is going down. It's even better on a morning ride from London as the sun is coming up. Stunning!
