Dunster is almost indecently pretty and exactly how you would imagine an English village to be... If only the traffic didn't meander through. Between us Komootlers: don't come by car, there are only a few (expensive) parking spaces. Better walk here from Minehead, the path through the forest is beautiful!

Coming from the direction of the tea room, you either turn around here or pay the entrance fee for the mill, the gardens and the castle. Currently that's 16 pounds per person. We actually just wanted to see the gardens, but there is only one type of ticket. But it was definitely worth it, we spent a very long time here and can recommend it.

We once had a wonderfully delicious cream tea with all the trimmings in the beautiful garden, right next to the ford. Over the years we have tried again and again to repeat the experience... Unfortunately, always in vain, because the great tea room is only open very irregularly. But it's definitely worth a try if you're in Winsford! P. S. We were there again and were once again thrilled by this lovely place. Unfortunately the garden will close forever at the end of October 23, and the tea room (inside) will close on December 18th. This restored watermill dates back to the 18th century and is located in the Dunster Castle Grounds, next to the River Avill. It is still operational and produces stoneground wholemeal flour. A stunning trail with plenty of line choices. Expect some slop in the dips but the higher lines are fine. No issues riding it on a gravel bike with 40mm tyres, just watch out for the chunky bits!
