Porlock Wier is a small, charming, and ancient port within Exmoor National Park. It is very picturesque and surrounded by typical West Somerset coastal hills, which makes it a great place to use as a base for some hiking and biking. As well as activities, it is a thriving little harbour with beautiful scenery, a place to relax and spend some time at.

Possibly the best pound you will ever spend on a toll road. It's quiet, smooth and incredibly scenic.

Incredible toll road, which costs is £1 for bikes. I'd highly recommend this climb over the busy and steep A-road alternative up Porlock Hill. Probably one of the most picturesque roads in the South of England, with beautiful switchbacks and wonderful views.

Porlock, with its thatched cottages, rose bushes and small lanes, is a picture-perfect English village. Unfortunately, there is a lot of traffic on the narrow main street. Many places to stop for refreshments and very nice shops invite you to spend some time here.

Porlock is a popular yet authentic Exmoor village. Set in Porlock Vale, between the rolling hills of Exmoor and the sea, the village boasts characterful streets that wind between thatched cottages, shops, galleries, pubs, restaurants, and tea rooms. There is a good choice of accommodation in the village too.

Cute little Exmoor village. The pub (The Exmoor Inn) is very nice and serves excellent food although be warned that lunch is only served until 3pm if you're running as late as we were. The river running through Simonsbath has many spots suitable for a wild dip and many are mentioned on https://www.wildswimming.co.uk/.

A small and pretty Exmoor village in Somerset, near the River Barle, very close to the source of the River Exe. It's on both the Two Moors Way and the MacMillan Way West. Find a few places here to relax inside; the Exmoor Forest Inn and the Simonsbath House Hotel, as well as some beautiful picnic spots alongside the river in better weather.

Most of the pictures here do NOT show the Gorge!!!! The entrance to it is clearly signposted and is exactly where you can see the water fountain. You pay 10 pounds entry per person, are greeted in a friendly manner and are given historical and technical background information about the exhibition. After visiting it, we continue along the river on steep paths to various waterfalls. This is very nice, especially if you're just passing through Lynmouth and only have time for a mini hike but still want to experience something. Or if you really want to get to know the place and are interested in technology and/or history. There are plenty of benches and picnic options, and the large parking lot with restrooms is just a few minutes from the entrance. Cafes and pubs are plentiful in Lynmouth.

Village straight out of a picture book, only accessible on a single-lane road. There is a large NT car park (expensive) which is a good start for walks along the coast. The tea room is also recommended. And then you've seen almost everything, Bossington is as tiny as it is adorable!

Fantastic climb up from Minehead. You’ll wiggle on good track up onto the top of the coastline. Fantastic views. Take care of weather as quite exposed when you get to the top but if good it’s a stunner!!

Glen Lyn Gorge is a dramatic gorge near the mouth of the River Lyn near Lynmouth. Fantastic place to see waterfalls and learn about the history of the place. There is a small entrance fee.

The bridge here at Lynmouth crosses the East Lyn River, one of the two rivers (the other being the West Lyn) which have created the spectacular valley that Lynmouth sits in. Lynmouth is a peaceful village and harbour, with a Victorian water powered railway that connects it to Lynton, 150m above. There are cafes, pubs and public toilets beside the river to the south east of this bridge.

rocky beach overlooking the channel. Difficult to swim but there seem to be some good spots for the experienced fisherman. A couple of interesting bunkers on the beach. Lower Porlock is a beautiful town with a nice pub with accommodation options (there's also a hotel there and some little cottages for rent)
