Nice route for beginners

Saint Paul's Church was built between 1862 and 1864 in the context of a developing Wokingham with the arrival of the railway. It underwent some enlargements, such as those in 1874 and 1892. The best way to describe its style is to say it is Victorian Gothic.

An impressive church built in response to the rapid growth of Wokingham following the arrival of the railway. The building was constructed between 1862 and 1864, although several improvements and an enlargement were undertaken a decade later.

At this point, you'll have some excellent views of the River Thames. You are on the Sonning Bridge, connecting Sonning with Sonning Eye. Right at this spot is the border between the counties of Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Located very close to the River Thames is this church, known for its various church monuments and for being the successor to an Anglo-Saxon Cathedral. Although its two aisles date back to the 13th and 14th centuries, what we can see today is primarily Victorian, as a result of its restoration in the mid-19th century.

The current bridge between Caversham in the north, and Reading to the south, was built over the River Thames in 1926. For over 200 years in the 17th to 19th century, a drawbridge was in place following the English Civil War.
