Forstmeisterkanal feeds the large castle pond with water and is a cool place in summer

The old castle dates back to the 13th century

This is where the Wiener Neustadt Canal flows into the Mödlingbach. From 1803 onwards, the canal was used to transport coal, wood and bricks from Wiener Neustadt to what is now the 3rd district of Vienna. In 1879, official shipping operations were stopped, but it was still used until after the First World War. After shortening and destruction in the Second World War, the canal was renovated in the 1970s and the mouth was moved here.

The Old Castle is the oldest of the three Laxenburg Imperial Castles and already existed around 1300.

The parish church of the Exaltation of the Cross in Laxenburg stands prominently on the castle square. The baroque interior is beautifully designed and there is a small chapel completely decorated with mosaics.

(1) CYCLING in the Laxenburg Palace Park is prohibited for general safety reasons. Children up to the age of 6 are exempt from this, provided that they are riding children's bikes that either have an outer rim diameter of no more than 300 mm and a maximum speed of 5 km/h, or are equipped with side support wheels. (2) In addition, taking bicycles into the Laxenburg Palace Park is prohibited. Bicycles can be parked in the marked areas at all entrances (directly next to the park ticket offices).
