Donovan (remember Sunshine Superman, Mellow Yellow) used to live at Buck's Alley Cottage in the late 60s/early 70s

Buck’s Alley - a little bit of Devon in Hertfordshire, reminds me of some of the foothills around the edge of Dartmoor. Charming, but go easy on the descents, gravel and blind corners mean carrying too much speed could catch you out.

A quiet little lane. Watch out for horse riders, though

Really interesting history of crime and punishment in St Albans. You can buy refreshments in the cafe and then go and eat them in the historic old courtroom. You can also go downstairs to the old cells and into the museum, where there is an excellent history of crime and punishment. There is a place to lock bikes up outside 🚴🏼‍♂️

Great to see the Cathedral

Officially the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban this is predominantly a Norman cathedral. It is thought to have been founded in the 8th century, but the building is mostly 11th century with 19th century gothic additions. It has the longest naive of any English cathedral.

Long, straight climb or descent.
