Nice ride out to Redlake, but then using a map, gps and standing on top of the hill, unable to find the track to Avon dam. Really disappointing.

This is a place to explore for sure. Wild camping allowed as long you respect the rules.

Left Lake is a small lake on the right of the Two Moors Way trail from Ivybridge heading north to Red Lake. It's a great little pool with a peaty bottom, so the water is quite dark. It warms up well if you get a few days of sunshine, perfect for a quick dip on a long run on the south moor.

Very cool but currently not permitted to wild camp. Still a fantastic place for a dip!

The Avon Dam was built in 1957 to supply water to the coastal towns of South Devon. You can ride up the access road to the base of the dam but will have to leave your bike or push up to see the reservoir.

Amazing place for a wild swim with safety to consider first, moderate trail with some elevation.

Flat loop around the reservoir

Hidden amongst the sprawling moorland of Dartmoor National Park, this is a lovely spot to explore. The reservoir is surrounded by beautiful woodland, moors and winding rivers where you can swim. There's also varied wildlife as well as sheep and wild ponies. You can park at the reservoir, but spaces are hard to come by in the summer.

The Avon Dam sits above Shipley Bridge in quintessential moorland surroundings. Cattle, sheep and Dartmoor ponies can often be seen grazing alongside the reservoir, on the grassy hills that roll up and away. The dam itself is just as spectacular as the views you can enjoy from it and the Avon Dam Reservoir is vast and beautiful as well. This is a perfect spot for a rest and a bite to eat, particularly as the ascent to it from the south is quite steep in the final section.

it's not exactly undiscovered but cool. apparently the quarry is filled with water from a spring.

This deep hidden pool is one of the finest places for a wild swim on Dartmoor, and a nice wild camping spot as you can wild camp legally on Dartmoor.

Great view with two great climbs/descents on either side :)

Also here you’ll see signs that peat was dug and transported on a wooden tramway (South Zeal Tramway) down to Shipley where it was distilled into naphtha. That track is a nice biking route but quite tricky with lots of granite boulders (the track was bolted to the granite) and quite boggy.
