Chesteron Windmill was built in 1632 and is one of the oldest surviving windmills in England. It was originally used for grinding corn and has a rich history ties to the agricultural practices of the region.

At the foot of Edge hill. Nice little town.

There are two pubs: The Howard Arms (gastropub) and The Red Lion.

We shouldn’t have to highlight where there is nice smooth tarmac but we do, this is a good bit and it’s a quite road too.

Quaint and beautiful Cotswolds village with small village store/cafe (see separate Highlight). Start of several worthy climbs in the Northern Cotswolds, such as Foxcote Hill, Ilmington Climb, Larkstoke (all available as separate Highlights). Also a good starting point for routes to Blockley, Chipping Campden and Broadway (see Tours).

Very handy bypass of the Fosse Way (main road), along the bridge. The road surface is very poor (ride slow!), but it avoids the cars on the big road. Lovely stream that runs under the bridge.

The continuous but officially separate villages of Upper and Middle Tysoe plus the nearby hamlet of Lower Tysoe. The church was built in the 11th century but added to and rebuilt in the 13th, 14th and 15th century's. It's now a grade 1 listed building.

There is a nice climb up to this point on Blue Lane, from either side, where you can get the best views of the surrounding landscape. I would recommend cycling from the Loxley side as it is steep at first, levelling out as you go through the village, then rising gently up Long Hill till you get to the final kick-up at the end.

That is one big windmill, it must be so efficient where it is...

This Place is cool, quite and peacefull, people can take fresh rich air and enjoy beautifull landscape view from this place.

The layby can get busy, there is a bin, but often overflows. So please be prepared to take your rubbish home.

Gorgeous and popular spot. Arrive early to get a parking space in the lay by.

It is a footpath up to the Windmill, so please don't ride if others are around. Wind really blows through the structure itself.

A fantastically unique windmill in a stunning setting. Set, prominently, in a field of barley, which is well worth visiting in a good day 👌

You have to cycle along the grass to get to the windmill, this can be muddy in less kind weather. There is a bin for litter, but it often overflows. Popular spot in nice weather, quieter at sunrise and sunset.
