A remarkable stone located right next to the road. Access is easy and possible at any time.

The rock is 5 m high, 7 m long and 3 m wide. It is a leaning granite block in the shape of a wobbly stone. The following story is told in town: When a company of French soldiers were quartered in Bad Traunstein in 1809, the soldiers made fun of the huge, but apparently only lightly resting block of stone. They made a bet with the population to collapse the block into the meadow. But the wobbly stone didn't move an inch. The French left in anger. From then on, the wobbly stone was called the “French stone”.

A wide forest path leads along the Kleiner Kamp, which flows through the forest below the Rapottenstein Castle, which is well worth seeing.

Cool off briefly and enjoy the sun with a view of the dense forest: The Waldbad Rappottenstein consists of an artificial pond with a maximum depth of two and a half meters, wide sunbathing areas, a children's playground, sanitary facilities and a buffet. From 980 m above sea level you can enjoy a wonderful view. So the climb is worth it. Attention, the last piece needs some "climbing resistance" and cannot be done by everyone. As skewed as the Franzosenstein lies, you could almost think that it falls over at any moment. But it doesn't happen that quickly. Even around a hundred French soldiers are said to have failed to move the stone. So they lost a bet against the Traunsteiners and at the same time gave the stone its name.

The quarry stone consists of large granite blocks. At the top there is an observation deck with a beautiful view of Bad Traunstein. There is a herb garden directly below.
