Fabulous food, good value, quick service......just what is required of a coffee shop!

The scenic birthplace of England's greatest naval hero. The wide green and double street is surrounded by chi-chi shops for the North Norfolk Coast tourist trade. There's a bakery for coffee, savouries and buns, as well as a tea room and cafe if you want to sit in.

A 2km arrow-straight driveway across the Holkham Park estate, overlooked by the impressive obelisk. Largely traffic free apart from a few vehicles accessing the estate.

Impressive country house set in enormous landscaped grounds, with free through-access for cycles. The cricket pitch on the north lawn by the house and lake must have one of the best settings in the country!

One of the local chain found in many of Norfolk and Suffolk's most popular tourist towns. Unfortunately there's no bike parking so not a good choice for a group: maybe just get a takeaway.

For Anglicans who want to cosplay as Catholics.

Decent takeaway coffee and huge portions of cake!

The narrow streets leading up from the quay area get very congested with pedestrians in the holiday season and are best avoided on a bike.

Views over the salt marshes towards the long sand spit that protects them from the sea.

Twisting streets? ✅ Quaint old buildings? ✅ Cafes and gift shops? ✅ Monks wandering around in habits and shops selling statues of the Virgin Mary? ✅ A slightly different take on your usual North Norfolk tourist town.

A nice enough church but presently covered in scaffolding.

Look through the gatehouse on the main village street and you can see the impressive east arch visible through it.

Great views across miles of marshes as you approach along the coast road. The Dun Cow pub has a great beer garden right by the road in the village.

To get the best view of Cley you have to climb the unpaved rise from the main road to the top of the bank - choose a low gear and stay seated to avoid rear wheel spin on the loose surface.

Impressive (Anglican) church in a very holy town.

Popular with visitors, which means there are shops and cafes for refuelling and a good place for a stop.

The ruins show just how large this place was in its heyday. The small remaining part now forms a fairly large parish church.

Nice spot to stop for a snack and a rest but plenty to learn too, if you find time to read the information boards.

Cley is the essence of a North North coastal village. The mill adds drama to the scene.
