This Norman Castle was where the Magna Carter was signed.

Unfortunately you can't see much of the castle from the road. The best views are from further away, as you enter the village, where the top of the keep rises above the trees.

Very busy although no bikes out front when I went past, but someone was parking their horse. 🐴

This cafe has now changed management and is called Waffle and Coffee. Still has bike racks and outside seating although I did not see the bike locks last time I was there. Staff still great and the food is even better. Bacon and egg sandwich is very good. Coffee, Tea and cakes and of course waffles. Good clean toilets so well worth visiting as a rest stop.

Good pub for a stop - plenty of garden for bikes, plenty of real ales but no food just bar snacks. Also no tea or coffee last time I was there.

A great resting spot on the village green at Castle Hedingham. There’s also a bench under the tree offering some shade.

Still flooded in March 2024 but we managed to walk through with our waterproof boots
