The parish church of St. Stephen is a Roman Catholic church with a long history. It belongs to the deanery of Amstetten in the Diocese of St. Pölten and is a listed building. The church was built over the foundations of an older church, the remains of which were discovered during a renovation in 1975. The church tower was raised between 1787 and 1789 and later acquired its current form with a height of 43 meters. The furnishings include an impressive high altar, designed by the South Tyrolean woodcarver Franz Schmalzl, as well as ornate side altars.

Parish church of St. Stephan, Amstetten At the beginning of the 11th century, the Passau bishops founded a large parish here. In the 14th century, the previous Romanesque building was expanded into a chapel and later expanded into a Gothic staggered church. Railway romance, Amstetten Amstetten is at the apex of the Geislinger Steige. Two branch lines branch off from Amstetten station. A railway line leads to Gerstetten, another in narrow gauge to Oppingen (formerly to Laichingen). Regular train services have been suspended on both branch lines. However, there are regular steam train rides and rides in the historic diesel railcar. Train station, Amstetten “Westbahn” The Westbahn is the main railway line from Vienna in eastern Austria to Vorarlberg. The original names were for the route from Vienna to Salzburg Empress-Elisabeth-Bahn and for the section from Salzburg to Wörgl in Tyrol Archduchess-Giselabahn, later called Salzburg-Tyroler-Bahn. The Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Bahn (KEB) between Vienna and Salzburg was made possible on the one hand by a state treaty with the Kingdom of Bavaria from 1851 (updated 1856) and on the other hand by a government law in 1854, which was intended to promote the construction of private railway lines. In 1856 the Viennese wholesaler Hermann Dietrich Lindheim received the concession for the construction. The state contract stipulated that the route should be built within five years of the award of the concession. Construction began in Vienna, the first KEB train - with building materials for the station - reached Salzburg Hauptbahnhof on May 25, 1860. The route from Frankenmarkt to the city of Salzburg was officially opened to traffic on August 1, 1860. This first section of the Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Bahn in the Salzburg area was officially opened on August 12, 1860 with the laying of the keystone at the Salzburg main station. After the section from Salzburg to Vienna, the Salzburg-Halleiner railway was put into operation, built by Karl Freiherr von Schwarz in 1871. Four years later, on August 6, 1875, the section, then known as the Giselabahn, was able to run from Bischofshofen to Wörgl in North Tyrol to be handed over to rail traffic.
