The parish and pilgrimage church of Maria Ellend, officially "Our Lady of the Rosary," belongs to the Hainburg deanery of the Archdiocese of Vienna and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the region. The first records of a Marian chapel on this site date back to 1466, when the chapel "Our Lady of Ellend" was first mentioned. The original church was destroyed in 1529 during the Turkish Wars. On the same site, the newly settled Croatian community built a second church in 1584, which was initially dedicated to Saint Mark and elevated to parish church status in 1659. After further war damage, the building fell into disrepair by 1710. The present church was rebuilt between 1770 and 1772 on what was then the imperial road and dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. In 1910, a mosaic depicting the "Madonna of the Road" was added to the facade, and a Lourdes grotto, Stations of the Cross, and a Rosary path were created in the surrounding area, reinforcing the pilgrimage character of the site. Architecturally, the church presents a simple exterior with a hipped roof and rectangular windows. The interior is dominated by a high altar dating from around 1770, upon which stands a miraculous statue of Mary with Child from around 1600, complemented by a simple wooden pulpit from the same period. Since 1929, the parish and pilgrimage site have been under the care of the Missionary Congregation of the Holy Family, ensuring that the church tradition, the pilgrimage activities, and the veneration of the Virgin Mary remain vibrant to this day.

Orth Castle is one of the oldest surviving castles in the region and has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages. The castle was first mentioned in the 12th century and was originally a medieval moated castle. In the 16th century, the castle was converted into a Renaissance palace. Over the centuries, it served various noble families and was later taken over by the municipality. Today, it is a listed building, is an important part of Lower Austria's cultural heritage and is particularly known as the Danube-Auen National Park Center. The castle houses the national park's visitor center, which is dedicated to the unique flora and fauna of this protected floodplain landscape. Orth Castle is located right in the heart of the Danube-Auen National Park, one of the last great floodplain landscapes in Central Europe. It combines historical architecture with modern environmental education. An ideal place to learn more about the fascinating floodplain landscape and its importance for nature conservation while enjoying the beauty of the surroundings.

Maria Ellend Parish and Pilgrimage Church The Maria Ellend Parish and Pilgrimage Church is located on Wiener Straße in Maria Ellend, in the municipality of Haslau-Maria Ellend in the Bruck an der Leitha district. The first church, around 1450, stood west of the present church on the Danube, on the site of a supposedly washed-up miraculous image. The church mentioned in 1544 was destroyed in 1529 during the Turkish War. The second church was built in 1584 on the same site for the newly settled Croatians and was briefly dedicated to St. Mark. It was elevated to parish church status in 1659, but fell into disrepair due to the Turkish War of 1683 and remained in ruins until 1710. The current church was rebuilt on the main road in 1770. The facade tower and mosaic were added during a renovation in 1910. Further renovations took place from 1974 to 1977, and the roof was renewed in 1989. Since 1929, the parish and pilgrimage site have been under the care of the Missionary Congregation of the Holy Family. Beautiful castle! Unfortunately you have to take quite a detour to get to the courtyard.
