Cafe only open when the gift shop is open during a very limited period leading up to Xmas.

Matilda’s Coffee shop permanently closed. The pub is open.

I agree with all the above tips. UNFORTUNATELY when I cycled there on 11th Oct 2023, I was told by the manager of the cafe that it will be permanently closed on 22nd Dec 2023, and all the staff will loose their jobs. So if you want to sample the excellent food, you don't have much time do it.

A lovely coffee stop with breakfast sandwiches, breakfasts, light lunches and home made cakes. Cosy inside seating or plenty of outside seating some of it in an open sided barn shelter

The church stands at the centre of an Iron Age hillfort. Church Way follows the curve of the eastern rampart, you can see the western rampart running through the field. Good views from here.

No ticket for the gardens is required if you you want to just use the cafe. You can find the café at the back of the New Inn, via the plant centre. Enjoy your refreshments inside or take a seat in one of the two outdoor courtyards (I think the Farmyard Courtyard it better if you want to eat outside with your bike)
