just a short detour off the route but worth the stop. quite stunning - and very noisy 😁

Come off the road and down the little footpath towards the River Soar and cross the first bridge... before the second bridge is a little island with a couple of picnic tables. A great spot to eat your packed lunch 😋

In the village of Long Whatton is this amazing black & white house!

Love this place. On both sides! Beeston side offers a café on the lock (+ Marina Club a little further down). Clifton side offers beautiful woodlands nearby.

A recreation ground and play park gifted to Kegworth Parish Council in the 1950s and most recently remodeled in 2017.

Great forest paths

The present day church consists of a medieval chancel with north vestry (now housing an organ) and south wall chancel door, clerestoried nave, north and south aisles, south porch, west tower and spire, and west-end vestries and galilee added in the 20th century. It is set within a conventional churchyard that is walled and gated on Church Lane (north side). A chapel is said to have existed on the banks of the River Trent at Attenborough n 964 AD and was overbuilt with the stone chancel of the present day church.

Much quieter than the trail on the north side of the river

Wooded gravel section on the South side of the river, gets muddy in the winter, but solid underneath. Links up with the North side via the cycleways at Clifton Boulevard.

Weir on River Trent by Beeston Lock

Not always open at the advertised times so ring before making a special trip. Plenty of alternative options in Long Eaton if unexpectedly closed.

This is a good pathway on cycling and the scenery is just beautiful

Great stretch of canal from Nottingham City centre out towards Derby. you do get dog walkers but it's a great route out the city away from cars. perfect for a gravel bike but very much doable on a road or touring bike
