From up here, you have a fantastic view of the Gößnit Waterfall. Below you, it rushes down a narrow mountain slope from a height of 70 meters. This makes it one of the most powerful waterfalls in the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Pretty little place with wonderful valley views

A place like something out of a picture book.

The legendary mountaineering village of Heiligenblut is probably one of the most beautiful in the entire Alpine region. It lies at an altitude of almost 1300 meters in a picturesque mountain landscape, with a unique natural backdrop, in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Guarded by the mighty peak of the Grossglockner (3798 meters), the highest mountain in Austria, Heiligenblut is the southern entrance to the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

It is only a few minutes from the chapel to the waterfall. It is definitely worth investing the time. Especially when it is not yet so dry and large amounts of water are coming from the mountains,

The Leiterbach flows from the Leiterköpfe (three peaks above in the west) along the steep slopes down to the Möll or into the Mölltal. Shortly before the confluence it falls over rock faces into the depths. An interesting path leads from the hiking trail through the Mölltal, first to a wooden bridge over the Leiterbach below the waterfall at this point and then in serpentines on the steep slope east of the stream and the waterfall up to the Trogalm (see HL: "Challenging hiking trail"). There are exciting views of the waterfall from the side.

Like the Gössnitzfall, the impressive moor can be reached on the Natura Mystica adventure trail, which begins in Winkl an der Möll in the west of Heiligenblut. There is interesting information about natural phenomena along the way.
