この初期新石器時代の長塚古墳は、おそらく紀元前4千年紀に建設されたと考えられています。地元コミュニティにとって社会的または宗教的な役割（教会のようなもの）を持っていたと考えられています。アルフリストンの反対側には、その半分の長さのものがもう一つあります。

A steady climb on hard packed gravel and dirt before a two mile descent down smooth gravel with some nice sweeping bends. Wave at the mountain bikers as you fly past. Finish at the candy canes & barrier across the fire road.

Tackling Butts Lane from Eastbourne's Old Town confronts you with a short but savage local 'wall' climb. Prepare for an immediate, intense effort as the narrow lane kicks up brutally, averaging around 12-13% with relentless ramps peaking near 19-20%. With little shelter from the wind, be prepared for gusts, especially near the top. Cresting the summit rewards you with stunning coastal views.

cuckoo Trail heathfield East Sussex

I can recommend visiting the Long Man of Wilmington (it isn't an ancient Fertility symbol more an artificial 17th century tourist attraction, more fool, the faux American witches I saw there several years ago). However I can't recommend leaving the Long Man pub down the road, at 7.30pm, in January, several days after it snowed and then several days of negative temperatures froze it in place, and then climb straight up past it. There is a path but we decided that would take far too long to divert to it. It was not surprisingly steep.
