Sandringham Cafe is a fantastic stop if your cycling past Sandringham house and gardens. Loads of good food and drink options and plenty of outside space and seating.

Coach Road is a lovely, tree-lined road leading to the heart of the Sandringham Estate.

A lovely ride along the avenue towards the estate.

Lovely crossing to the south of Castle Acre if you come in following the Peddars way, there is a view out to the old Monastery.

The grand approach to Sandringham's (private) main entrance at the elaborate Norwich Gates, reached by a short, sharp climb from Dersingham.

The lane south of the ford is narrow with a very poor surface. It, and the ford, are passable on a road bike but better suited to a gravel bike.

Castle Rising in Norfolk is one of the most famous 13th century castles in the whole of England. The stones used to build the castle were produced around 1140D and are beautifully preserved. The castle holds a rich history and the grounds are open to the public to explore for a small fee. This is an excellent traffic-free cycle path that runs along the River Great Ouse into Kings Lynn. This section traces a wide part of the Great Ouse, close to its mouth at The Wash where it drains into the North Sea. It's the longest of several British rivers called "Ouse", flowing through Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk to its source in Syresham in Northamptonshire.

Downham Market is one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns. It lies on the banks of the River Great Ouse, and dates back to Saxon times. The market place is known for its unusual and iconic black and white clock.

One of the largest, best preserved and most lavishly decorated keeps in England, surrounded by 20 acres of mighty earthworks. Building of the castle was begun in 1138 by the Norman lord William d'Albini for his new wife, the widow of Henry I. In the 14th century it became the luxurious residence of Queen Isabella, widow (and alleged murderess) of Edward II. Get inside and climb up to the top. Also walk around the edge of the earthworks surrounding the place: there's a great view.

Check out Castle Rising, a medieval Castle in the village of Castle Rising. It can be seen from Lodge Lane but is worth having a detour around the grounds.
