Really pretty little path. Only downside is how short it is.

Although Burnham-On-Sea Pier is Britain’s shortest pier and comprises no more than a shoreward end pavilion on concrete piles, it is still a lovely structure that, unlike a lot of its bigger counterparts, still retains its Edwardian features and elegance.

End of the road. Take care the jetty is only accessible at low tide and there are strong currents. Originally constructed for the transfer of railway passengers and freight to paddle steamers which crossed the Bristol Channel to Wales.

Burnham Seafront. The fish and chips smelt delicious. Gets quieter the further south you go.

Named for the Danish settler who arrived in the 9th century, Spaxton is a charming Quantocks villages. A historic water pump, old cottages and a gorgeous Georgian manor all make this village rather easy on the eye. Several footpaths pass through the settlement, including the Quantock Greenway. If you're looking for a pub lunch, head to the Lamb Inn at Four Forks, a hamlet just to the east.

The termination of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal, Bridgwater Docks is a floating harbour. In its heyday in the 1800s, it saw thousands of vessels a year. The construction had been done under a mortgage and the company, unable to keep up with payments, sold the canal and docks to a railway company instead. The docks were last used for commercial activity in 1971 and are now operated by council. It’s a pretty area to walk around and you’ll see plenty of narrowboats in the marina.

At the mouth of the River Parrett, upon Bridgwater Bay is Burnham on Sea. This pier is all that remains of the Somerset and Dorset railway that connected Cardiff (via steamer) to the Southcoast. The trains used to run from Burnham-on-sea and then to Wells, Glastonbury, Bath (for connections to the Midlands) as well as Wareham and Swanage in Dorset.

A bit of a long way round, but it's much nicer taking the little country lanes through the village on Chilton Trinity to get around the town centre

Old railway line, nice little cut-through with some cool sculptures in the stream, gets you across the A39 and down into Bawdrip

The Chandos Glass Cone was built by James Brydges, an affluent landowner and politician in 1728 as a kiln for glassworks. Glassmaking was done at the kiln only until 1734, when it was transformed into a pottery kiln, making bricks and tiles. In 1939, the kiln was used for the last time before. Originally 33 meters (108 feet) high, now only a few feet of its base are visible. It was destroyed in 1943. Today, the kiln is listed as an ancient monument.

Perfect alternative to the main roads bridging access from Woolavington to Bridgwater without hitting the A39. An old railway line with lots of seating and shade too!
