There is a lovely little market at Whitstable Harbour. It has expanded enormously over the years and now has some really excellent, trendy restaurants as well as arts and crafts stalls where you can find some gems. There are also a number of very cheap stalls selling fresh fish and takeaway food just outside the market itself.

Great views if the weather is good

Great coastal rides from Whitstable to Margate but very busy on summer weekends with many pedestrians along the promenades. These routes are best on week days for a good ride.

This is an easy access walk, suitable for bikes, buggies and wheelchairs

Rochester is a great town for sightseeing and cafe stops, a must visit on a ride from London to Kent (or back). Castle Hill is one of the highlights, with a great view of the castle and the cathedral.

Too busy these days being a magnet for Tourists visiting from Abroad

I second Steve's comment regarding the wind, it'll be your best friend or your worst enemy as this is a very open and exposed stretch of coast, but incredibly beautiful any time of the year - For the more adventurous types and those who don't mind getting a little dusty or muddy don't be afraid to venture from the pavement onto the dirt tracks, the whole area between Minnis Bay, Reculver Tower and along the Thanet Way is full of tracks and paths to follow through woodland or open marsh.
