Victory Column of Independence. Beautiful monument illuminated at night.

With the remaining 2 kilometers of the original city walls, Tallinn boasts one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Europe. It is largely this system of walls and towers that gives the Old Town its fairytale charm.

The square was dedicated to the Estonian War of Independence between 1918 and 1920. During the Soviet era, from 1940 onward, it was called Victory Square. Since 1991, it has been called Freedom Square again.

Unfortunately, the place is becoming increasingly dilapidated, even though you have a great view from up here.

The waterfall is 6 meters high and several dozen meters wide, making it second only to the Narva and Jägala waterfalls in terms of its power. From the park, the path leads along the riverbed over two suspension bridges to the waterfall. Good to know: Keila-Joa is home to a renovated hydroelectric power plant. Nearby is also a renovated, neo-Gothic-inspired manor house – one of the most magnificent of its kind. The 3 km long Keila-Joa nature trail invites you to explore the magnificent natural surroundings.

There is currently a lively debate in Estonia about whether to preserve this gigantic architectural monument or convert it into a conference center. The building is currently falling into disrepair. Nevertheless, Linnahall remains a popular meeting place for both locals and tourists, as its roof offers a view of the Baltic Sea and the city. Furthermore, the Tallinn Stars ice hockey club played its home games there from its founding in 2002 until its dissolution in 2009.
