The path beside the Fossdyke has at one end the Brayford pool in Lincoln with pubs, restaurants and cinema. The route continues past the Pyewipe Inn, Beyond that is Burton Waters with the very popular Woodcocks. Further on is the village of Saxilby with its railway station.

narrow path here alongside a very busy main road - barriers either side though.

Back again July 10th 2025 and grass was cut so ride ok!

Clumber Lake is a large, man-made lake within Clumber Park, a National Trust property in Nottinghamshire, England. It was created by damming the River Poulter in 1774.

Grass has been cut recently, ok for gravel/mtb. Fairly smooth but some parts where ground soft had tractor tyre imprint, probably from recent grass cut.

I had excellent marinara pizza at Franco Manca. The price was more than reasonable, especially considering how we are getting ripped off everywhere after covid. There were tables outside even though it was a late winter day so I could keep an eye on my bike. The service was very quick.

A great place to access this cycle route is the Park & Bike parking in Skellingthorpe.

The cycle track along the A46 is very narrow and can be difficult to manage.

Worth putting your nose into Harby church to see this. Eleanor's heart is preserved in Lincoln cathedral but her body was transported to London. At every overnight stop her husband, Edward 1(?), erected a cross, hence Waltham Cross, Charing Cross and 10 others.

Amazing! I wasn't expecting such a castle in the middle of Newark when cycling through.👍 Looks like it would be well worth a visit if you have time.

Great bike to cycle or walk around with woods and open areas.

The Pyewipe Inn, alongside the Fossdyke Canal Trail is the perfect location for those who prefer more relaxed scenery to enjoy a leisurely meal and pint with, compared to the bustle of the nearby city of Lincoln (less than 2 miles away).

Combine a visit to the castle with a picnic, watching the Trent roll by. There are lots of quiet lanes approaching from the south.

Nice riverside ride taking you into Saxilby - Pubs, Food and Co-op can be located here.

Just be aware, pedestrian traffic can get dense, also, railway barriers can give lengthy delays
