The sign dubiously claims a max gradient of 15%. My Wahoo topped out at just over 6% which felt about right.

Nice little garden in summer

Founded in 1107 by William d'Aubigny, the butler to King Henry I, Wymondham Abbey was once a thriving monastery. However, it was closed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under King Henry VIII, with the abbey officially surrendered to the crown in 1538. Today, the building serves as an Anglican parish church.

As the name aptly suggests; it's all in the photos. Nothing more to add. I was on a 200km touring ride, not attempting a KOM or some such. A very pleasant surprise nonetheless to hv encountered it - had no previous knowledge of its existence - glad to hv found it by pure coincidence. Always brings a smile to face to see cycling 'non-business' related stuff. Just pure awareness, friendly 🚲 stuff. 🙂

Road goes through a nice avenue of trees near the junction with Slopers Road.

A short distance from the main market square area, on the edge of the town centre. Howard's Cycles is handily just a few yards further down the road if you're in need of any spares or repairs.

Has that curious thing of being impressively intact at one end but partially ruined at the other. Very grand for a parish church!

Just a signal box and a level crossing over the single track line. Not a busy line so the crossing is rarely closed!

Quaint market town with the usual collection of shops and cafes making it a good place for a ride break.

Nice scenic place to pass by rather than a place to stop, a little room at the side of the road but mostly fenced off.

Wymondham is a gorgeous market town in South Norfolk that dates back to the Anglo-Saxon period. Known as a centre for woodturning and brush-making, many of the factories of Wymondham were still in action until the late 1900s.

An odd-looking ruin, the the tower now standing separate from the nave after the middle part of the church collapsed.

Tucked away behind buildings and a high fence so relatively easy to miss despite its size if you’re coming from Buckenham.

Great location for a quick refreshment break or a full lunch stop. Outdoor tables if it’s dry.

Nice cafe with outdoor seating at the front overlooking the village green.
