The path beside the Fossdyke has at one end the Brayford pool in Lincoln with pubs, restaurants and cinema. The route continues past the Pyewipe Inn, Beyond that is Burton Waters with the very popular Woodcocks. Further on is the village of Saxilby with its railway station.

Description of gravel not accurate, at on point you have to cycle around the side of a wheat field, very rutted, also nettles about 3 feet high in places. When you turn of the road on the byway it is blocked across the field with electric fences for the horses. Not a very nice ride.

I had excellent marinara pizza at Franco Manca. The price was more than reasonable, especially considering how we are getting ripped off everywhere after covid. There were tables outside even though it was a late winter day so I could keep an eye on my bike. The service was very quick.

A great place to access this cycle route is the Park & Bike parking in Skellingthorpe.

The cycle track along the A46 is very narrow and can be difficult to manage.

Awesome little stop to fuel up on coffee and a cake - also a full cafe menu for more options. Don't forget to visit the giant bike shop next door for bikes and repairs

Worth putting your nose into Harby church to see this. Eleanor's heart is preserved in Lincoln cathedral but her body was transported to London. At every overnight stop her husband, Edward 1(?), erected a cross, hence Waltham Cross, Charing Cross and 10 others.
