We were lucky enough to spend time there today.

This artwork, entitled "To See Beyond," is part of the "St. Martin Art Trail" and dates from 2023. "London-based artist Tim Norris draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape and, wherever possible, uses local natural materials in combination with constructed elements. As a harmonious symbiosis of landscape and art, the work invites visitors to enjoy the expansive view across the Rhine plain. It consists of an inner layer of stretched canvas, which offers protection and shade to the seated figure, while the outer layer of local vine tendrils alludes to the surrounding wine region. 'To See Beyond' translates to 'to see beyond.' We can interpret this as the view across the Rhine plain or, philosophically, as the perspective from the present into the future." Beautiful climb and little traffic - I'll be back :)

Near Germersheim, the cycle path leads past the railway bridge below, paved with excellent asphalt, to the Old Brickworks. A great section. It's best to start early in the morning, then you'll have the race track (almost) to yourself.

Super rest area

The artwork invites you to take a break with a fantastic view of the Rhine plain. The artist Tim Norris wanted to create a symbiosis of landscape and art. The concrete path on which the artwork stands is suitable for racing bikes.

Beautiful forest section. The cycle path is easy to ride on a racing bike. In autumn there are a lot of leaves on the cycle path.

Anyone who has made it this far can and should continue the rest of the way to the summit 👍. Otherwise, head towards Maikammer, St. Martin or Elmstein... the agony of choice
