Very nice view and 2 small climbs

Great route – easy to ride on a road bike. On a clear day, you can see Lübeck's skyline (7 towers).

A little higher up, there's a bench and a great view by the small wind turbine. A great place to rest after the steep climb.

The Evangelical Church of Zarpen is a brick Gothic church in Zarpen, begun in 1221, which was built in the 13th century as the parish church of this early medieval main town and for the surrounding villages of the former Reinfeld Monastery in what is now the Nordstormarn district.

I wouldn't call it "easy to ride" in 2024. Here, pedestrians and cyclists share a narrow path in both directions that is riddled with tree roots.

Fantastic route out of Lübeck, little to no traffic (at least on Sunday mornings) and good asphalt.

Beautiful, secluded route, but lots of uphill and downhill. Easy to manage with an e-bike or if you're fit.

This view of Lübeck is on the road from Pöhls to Heilshoop. There we stand on a ridge of a terminal moraine that frames the Lübeck depression. This ridge runs on a line Heilshoop, Zarpen, Reinfeld and reaches a height of around 70m at Zarpen. The Lübeck depression is a good 60m lower. This means that in many places - provided the weather is favorable - we have a good view of Lübeck with its famous silhouette.
