The lake is used as a leisure and recreation area. There are various beaches around the lake, including nudist and dog beaches, as well as lake access for horses. At the lake there is a boat rental and bicycle rental, a campsite, holiday bungalows and holiday homes floating on the water. The lake is a popular diving spot. The European cycle route R1, the Berlin-Leipzig cycle route and the COAL | STEAM | LIGHT cycle route pass by the lake.
